Festive breaks at The Stag

If you have family coming to stay this festive season or you’re looking for a weekend escape and keen to visit the beautiful landscape and quaint villages in and around Godalming, have you considered staying with us here at our pub hotel?

Not only are we an outstanding pub, which offers fresh, local and seasonal food and drink in a relaxed and ambient environment; we also run a hotel offering seven bedrooms, with each room featuring bags of character, along with the luxurious added touches that make your stay that bit more special.

Overnight Bliss

Our pub has history, dating back to 1771, and is a Grade-II listed building.  The design and refurbishments have remained sympathetic to its past, with its oak beam ceilings, sloping floors and notable historic events including its long history of hunting, shooting and fishing, which have been documented for guests alike to read.

The bedrooms have been tastefully refurbished to offer the mod-cons and luxuries you would expect to guarantee a glorious home-away-from-home experience and perfect sleep. Examples include the ESPA toiletries, luxury Egyptian linen, goose feather and down quilts (allergy options available) to the soft, fluffy white bathrobes. We even provide a complimentary chilled bottle of Hogs Back TEA to help ease you into your night of relaxation and restful sleep.

Lots to see and do in and around Godalming

Whether you’re looking for things to do with the family, or as a couple, there are tons of activities and places of interest in and around Godalming. The Godalming Christmas Festival and Lights switch on will take place on Saturday 25th November 2017 with many more festivities and experiences becoming available as the weeks continue.

If you’re looking to be ‘at one’ with nature and enjoy a good ramble, don’t forget to pack your wellies and rain coats and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful landscapes of Painshill Park (Cobham) or visit the brand new Deepdene Trail, which is the country’s most historically-significant gardens. Located just minutes from Dorking town centre, discover Deepdene’s connection to the famous cursed Hope Diamond, the tragic reason behind the Hope family Mausoleum and how this unique landscape has changed over time.

If you have a ‘need for speed’, why not book up in advance for a driving experience at Mercedes Benz World (Weybridge), for those seeking a bit more adventure there’s always an opportunity to dust off that competitive streak with rock climbing at Craggy Island (Guildford) or amongst the high ropes and zip wires at Wild Wood Adventure (Guildford).

Lapland UK just 30 minutes away

For those who have younger ones, there are so many varying activities ranging from visiting Santa’s elves at their workshop in Lapland UK, getting up close and trekking with llamas at Surrey Hills Llamas, to pottery painting at The Colour Cauldron (Cranleigh) and completing the Guildford Treasure Trail. There really is SO much to do in and around us here at The Stag on the River.

Be organised and book ahead

Don’t leave it too late, book ahead to avoid disappointment and get planning your itinerary. Should you have any special requests or requirements, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Claudia and the team here at The Stag who will be delighted to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
