A celebration of British Seafood

When things got fishy

Last week’s weather wasn’t exactly filling us with that summery feeling, but here at The Stag we know that summer isn’t all about sunshine (hard to admit sometimes, but when you’re British you really can’t rely on glorious sunshine, can you)!

As proper foodies, summer to us is all about delicious fresh flavours and exciting ingredients that make our mouths water and take you back to glorious summers past with a mere sniff. So with that in mind, over the weekend we had a celebration of the best of British seafood, with a selection of fabulous specials including sardines straight from Newlyn in Cornwall off the boat ‘White Heather’ and mackerel, from our favourite named boat, ‘Carpe Diem’ that landed at Plymouth in Devon.

With all this great fish, our chefs had a great time conjuring up some treats to tempt you, from a classic surf & turf, to pickled Plymouth mackerel on sweet potato puree, celery carrot and shallot salad.

If you missed all this fishy fun, don’t worry, our specials board is always full of great fresh ingredients packed into wonderful dishes to treat your taste buds whenever you fancy it. So, as the boat suggests, Carpe Diem and join us for a bite to eat this summer
